The debate surrounding veganism isn’t new:
"It does not follow, if we have more intelligence than other animals, that on this account they are to be deprived of intelligence; as neither must it be said, that partridges do not fly, because hawks fly higher…"
Porphyry, circa 280 A.D.
I hate when people look down on animals because they don’t have “higher brain function”. A dog can smell 10x better than you, and gets a summary of your entire life from a few sniffs.
Anyone who feels they have to prove that they’re more intelligent than what they kill should pause to recognize the absurdity of the situation they’re in. Ethically and intellectually, it’s just absurd.
Whole wheat rotini pasta with sautéed kale, mushrooms and carrot ribbons, fresh corn, grape tomatoes and black beans, and seasoned with garlic, oregano, fresh basil, salt and pepper.
We act like it’s a struggle because, for us, it is a struggle.
"So this is who this is for. This comic is for the “crazy vegans” and the people who give to many fucks about what people decide they don’t want to consume.
Just chill guys.”
Thanks for insulting everyone in the struggle (as “crazy”). I notice that you say you and your family are vegan; most of the people on Tumblr are locked in a tug-of-war with their own families on these issues on a daily basis. They don’t deserve to be reviled as crazy. People who stand up and do the right thing for the right reasons don’t deserve to be reviled as crazy. If being a vegan isn’t a struggle for you, and you can’t relate, my advice is: make the effort and learn how to relate (because for plenty of the people “here” it really is a struggle).

Saddest Slaughterhouse Footage Ever Shows No Blood Or Slaughter
"When we have access to plant-based foods, and understand that eating animals is not necessary to good health, then the choice to eat animals anyway demonstrates the desire to intentionally hurt others." (Free From Harm)
it makes me really sad because i know so many good, intelligent people who stand up proudly for very important things, but as soon as animal rights are concerned they don’t believe it is worthy of their time. social justice goes far beyond just our species, and it’s all well and good to stand up for things that only require you to speak about them, but your true character shows when what you stand up for requires you to do something about it. to make changes in your life for it.
